It’s an awful truth. One you don’t want to think about, especially when you’re job searching. I haven’t even gotten a job yet and now I have to worry about getting fired?!?
Technically, yes. From the day that you’re hired you can be worried about your company saying, “Nope. Sorry. We don’t need you.”
You can yell “No take backs!” as much as you want. Won’t help.
Nothing happens before the morning coffee. Nothing.
Meetings always start on time. So don’t show up early.
Everyone around you has an iPhone. Everyone in the US does not.
It’s not a matter of staying busy. It’s a matter of shuffling windows. Adjusting the open window, moving YouTube to the bottom of your screen, strategically placing word docs over what you’re really looking at, etc. It’s not wasting time, but staying fresh.
Find a balance between working all day and remaining cool.
It’s not about you. It’s not your idea. It’s your team’s.
Instead of saying an idea won’t work, find a way to make it fly.
When brainstorming, speak before you think.
When executing, think before you speak.
Always sing the happy birthday song.
Don’t decorate your space to show off how awesome you are. Prove it with your work. Pull from your surroundings instead of letting them pull from you.
Know how to nitpick, but don’t be nitpicky. Details can save lives.
